as for shop fitter.
shop fitter
receives wooden parts or sections of counters, desks, partitions, cupboards, shelves, shop fronts, facias, shutters and other shop fittings or of bank, office, public house bars and bar fittings, which have usually been prepared or partly prepared, i.e., planed, moulded, cut into lengths, etc., by wood-working machinist (486) q.v. or by shop fitter's joiner (474) q.v.; fits and joins these parts or sections together by cutting, dovetailing, morticing, tenoning, grooving, jointing, dowelling, moulding, planing, etc., according to prepared plans or designs, and attaches grilles, hinges, door springs, locks and other metal fittings thereto; may be employed either entirely in workshop or entirely on outside work, i.e. erecting in situ, or partly in one and partly in the other.
