881.—Theatrical, Film Hiring and Variety Agents

agent, band agent, concert agent, lecture agent, theatrical agent, variety agent
conducts an agency by which bands, lecturers, concert, theatrical or variety artistes respectively are put in touch with organisers of public performances, theatrical managers, etc.; keeps a register; arranges terms of contract, i.e., salary, dates, duration; often arranges bookings, itinerary, and. superintends advertising arrangements of performances.
agent's manager
in general control of an agency, not being himself proprietor; duties as for agent; sometimes specifically designated, e.g. band, concert, film hiring, theatrical or variety agent's manager.
film hiring agent ; film renter
acquires, by purchase or arrangement, right to hire a cinematograph proprietor's film; arranges trade shows of new films (sometimes done by producer (880) (q.v.)); lets films on hire; agrees terms, conditions and itinerary.
