lead burner's helper
assists lead burner (242) q.v., cuts lead sheet with shears, hammer and chisel; holds up work; generally fetches and carries material and tools; is usually an apprenticed chemical plumber (242) q.v.
plumber's labourer, plumber's mate
assists plumber (252) q.v.; carries tools and heats them when necessary: fills blow lamp with spirit, lights and prepares it for use by plumber, must know different kinds of piping and names of pipes; gets material for gutters, etc., on to roofs.
water fitter's mate
assists water fitter (252) q.v.; holds tools, cuts and screws pipes, with hack saw, pipe cutting tool, stocks and dies.
