- erector's labourer
- lifts, carries, and holds work in position for erector (210) q.v.; stands by to hold tools.
- fitter's assistant
- see fitter's mate.
- fitter's labourer
- lifts, carries and does rough work for fitter (210) q.v. but does not generally use tools; cf. fitter's mate; sometimes specifically designated, e.g. boiler pipe fitter's labourer.
- fitter's mate
; fitter's assistant
- keeps tools clean and assists fitter (210) q.v. by handing him tools or machine parts during fitting; does elementary work such as tightening-up nuts; tapping and screwing, and generally aids fitter; precise duties varjr with different branches of engineering.
- millwright's labourer
- fetches and carries for millwright (212) q.v. and assists in placing in position heavy shaftings, machine parts, etc., by hauling, lifting or slinging by means of ropes; does not use tools.
