body maker, safe body maker ; safe maker
marks off on plates, from bine print, positions of holes to be drilled . or punched; makes holes by use of machine drill or punching machine, see driller (200), puncher (278); fits back and sides in position and hand rivets together
see hand riveter (255); drills or punches front frame and rivets into position to form recess for door; for fire resisting safes, enters inner metal linings and flanges and packs intervening space with non-conducting composition; screws flanges into position, using screw tapping stock and dies.
case fitter, case maker, casing maker

door maker (safes) ; safe finisher, steel door maker
marks off, by measurement from blue print, positions of rivet boles, bolt slots, screw holes, lock case, pivots, etc.; uses drilling, punching and slotting machines to cut door and frame, see driller (200), puncher (278), slotter (200); fits locks and bolts, riveting and screwing as required; uses hydraulic riveting machine on heavy work, see hydraulic riveter (255); swings door on pivots or hinges and makes necessary adjustments with planing machine and file to ensure close fit.

as for door maker (safes), except that steel frame for door is also made and fitted by same processes.
liner, lining maker ; case fitter, case maker, casing maker
drills or punches holes in plates by means of drilling or punching machine, see driller (200), puncher (278); rivets plates together by means of riveting machine, see machine riveter (265), to form safe lining in readiness for safe body maker q.v.; sometimes bends plates to shape before drilling, when not done by bender (190) q.v.; may also mane and fit drawers, shelves, etc., cf. fittings maker (264).
