- cuts solid handles or tips (haft into bored hole of which tang is cemented) for cutlery, teapots, etc., out of bone, horn, ivory, etc., with hand saw or with power-driven circular or band saws; usually also cuts scales, see scale cutter; sometimes specifically named according to material worked in, e.g. bone handle cutter, buffalo horn handle cutter, horn handle cutter, ivory handle cutter, stag handle cutter; see also handle cutter, pearl; handle cutter, shell; handle cutter, xylonite.
