- block printer
- lays colour on sieve, i.e., a felt covered frame, with a brush, and presses wooden pattern block on it; raises block, by hand, or in large pattern work, by means of elastic to which block is suspended, and swings it round; carefully presses block on paper to correspond exactly, or register, with pattern.
- decorator (paper staining)
- elaborates design on high class printed wallpaper by printing with hand blocks in gold, silver and special colours.
- stenciller, stencil worker
- stipples designs on wallpaper with a brush, using stencil plates and distemper colour.
