382.—Block Printers and Aerographers

aerographer (textile)
places stencils over textile fabrics, and sprays, by hand, colours thereon with aerograph, an apparatus for spraying colours, under pressure.
block printer
(i) prints pattern on fabric by hand, pressing on it an engraved block coated with colour;
(ii) flat press printer; attends to block printing machine; sets cloth in position, and moves hand levers which swing blocks alternately from colour troughs to fabric and back; cf. machine printer (383).

mat printer
an aerographer q.v. who sprays colours on mats with a stencil and aerograph.
silk printer (block printing)

tapestry printer (block printing)
a block printer q.v. who prints patterns on tapestry with hand bIocks.
