blank cutter (spoon and fork)
a pressworker q.v. who operates a power-driven press fitted with cutting dies, to cut out spoon or fork blanks; lays sheet metal on bottom die, and operates treadle to cause top die to cut blank; sometimes also fixes top and bottom dies in press.
marker, trade marker
stamps manufacturer's registered initials or trade mark on finished articles, either by hand stamp, or by power-driven fly press; sometimes inscribes marks with hand tools.
piercer, pierce worker
(i) lays plate of silver or white metal on die of a hand-press piercer; moves lever, bringing down a cutting tool which pierces holes or designs in plate;
(ii) see piercer, saw.
piercer, saw ; piercer, pierce worker
cuts out designs, letters, etc., on plate and jewellery, with a fret saw, working to paper design pasted on the metal; sometimes specifically designated, e.g., gold and silver saw piercer.
pressworker, press girl, press hand, presser ; bench stamper, gold and silver stamper, puncher, stamper
feeds a hand, treadle, or power press, used for cutting out or piercing, shaping and pressing sheet or plate metal to form component parts of electroplated ware, gold or silver or imitation jewellery; sets press in motion by moving lever or pressing treadle; sometimes also changes dies in press; sometimes specifically designated, e-g-, gold and silver pressworker.
pressworker (imitation jewellery)
a pressworker q.v. employed in imitation jewellery trade.
pronger
a pressworker q.v. who cuts out prongs of forks in a press.
puncher
see pressworker.
stamper, bench stamper, gold and silver stamper

stamper, bolster
stamps, with press and dies, hollow metal bolsters used in making fish knives, forks, servers, etc.
stamper, drop
lays sheet metal on bottom die of stamping press; pulls a rope, drawing other die, which is weighted, to top of vertical steel runners, between which it runs; releases rope, allowing weighted die to fall, and strike with force, metal lying on bottom die; replaces dies, as required.
stamp worker, kick
a pressworker q.v. using a press which is set in motion by kicking a leather strap with the foot.
