ORDER XXIX.—WAREHOUSEMEN, STOREKEEPERS AND PACKERS

944.—China and Glass Packers

glost paperer-up: wraps finished glost ware (ware which has been glazed) in paper, in warehouse, ready for packers.
packer: (i) packs earthenware, china, or glass articles in casks, boxes, or crates ready for despatch, using straw or shavings to prevent breakage;; (ii) packs ornamental bricks, tiles, etc., in crates or cases for despatch.
packer, lamp (electric lamps): packs cartons, containing electric lamp bulbs, in cases for despatch, with straw, paper or corrugated card to absorb shock.
strawer (glass): packs glass in preparation for transport; (male) ropes large sheets of plate glass into position in light wooden frame on wagon, lorry, etc., and thrusts handfuls of straw beneath roping and inside wooden frame; (female) packs smaller glassware in crates with straw.
