advertising expert
advises as to method of display of advertisements, medium, locality, etc.
advertising representative
calls on clients on behalf of advertising agent or contractor to arrange details of advertising scheme; submits rough lay-outs, etc.; calls in reply to enquiries for estimates, etc.
agent, advertising; advertisement agent, publicity agent
undertakes advertising of all descriptions; advises as to scope and form of publicity; retains space in newspapers and journals, on hoardings, vehicles, etc.; prepares lay-outs, copy, designs, etc.; completes approved material, and arranges for its subsequent printing and publication; in some cases, also acts as advertising contractor (q.v.).
agent, billposting
arranges, on behalf of clients, for placing of poster advertising with one or more billposting contractors (q.v.).
agent, circular distributing
undertakes distribution of business and other circulars by post or by hand to addresses furnished by client or taken from directory.

billposting expert
plans arrangement of posters on display station; gives advice as to successful poster advertising.

contracts with railway, omnibus companies, or others having advertising facilities for utilisation of available space; lets space to advertisers either by contract or according to schedule of prices; carries out placing or posting of advertisements.

accepts orders or contracts for posting of posters or other advertisements on hoardings or other display stations of which he has acquired the posting rights; sometimes has hoardings built and maintained; supervises work of clerks (939) and billposters (989) (q.v.)

examines advertisements on railway rolling stock and premises, on hoardings and other public places, to ensure that they are properly place i and in good condition; reports as to renewals when necessary.

arranges and controls a firm's advertising, subject to approval of head of firm; selects designs, copy, medium, and arranges contracts; controls advertising staff.

controls advertisement side of newspaper publishing; lets space; classifies advertisements for orderly insertion; in some cases, provides facilities given usually by advertising agents (q.v.).
press agent
undertakes, on commission, the work described under press manager (q.v.); (provides drawings and lay-outs for advertisements in press, etc.
press manager
in charge of arrangements for advertising in press, for issuing notices of forthcoming events, new plays, etc., to press representatives; ensures that these events are adequately noticed in press, etc.; provides illustrated newspapers, magazines, etc., with photographs for reproduction.
