head tuner (weaving)
a tuner q.v. who, in small factories, may also act as overlooker (weaving) q.v. jacquard machine gaiter, jacquard tackier, jaque man; an overlooker (weaving) q.v. adjusting jacquard machines, and supervising operatives engaged on them.
loom gaiter

looming master
see overlooker (dressing room).
overlooker (dressing room) ; looming master
superintends operations of dressing, drawing, reaching, and twisting, in preparation for cotton weaving, including correct setting of healds and selection of coloured yarns, upon which correct weaving of set patterns depends.
overlooker, loom overlooker (weaving) ; loom gaiter, weaving master, weaving mistress, weaving overlooker
is responsible for efficient running and for output of power looms, or of a section thereof; directs and controls weavers and other workers in weaving department; repairs minor breakdowns in looms; sometimes also sets them up, or assists in setting them up; often further distinguished according to type of loom, or class of goods woven, e.g. cotton tappet overlooker, power loom overlooker.
tackler, loom tackler
see tuner ; often further designated according to class of loom, e.g. dobby tackler, jacquard tackier, etc.
tenter (linen, hemp and jute trades)
see tuner.
tuner, loom tuner, power loom tuner ; fettler, machine fettler (silk weaving), tackier, loom tackier, tenter (linen, hemp and jute)
is responsible for output of a section of looms; usually a weaving overlooker q.v. but is sometimes distinguished as being (a) in charge of a smaller number of looms, and (b) more concerned with manual work of setting up and adjusting looms, putting in beams, and doing minor repairs.
