- head miller (pottery)
- is responsible for whole working of mill and superintends work of millers and millmen (104) (q.v.) in feeding, emptying and cleaning of pans or cylinders, and fixing of new runners and paviors; also sees that machinery is well oiled.
- potter's overlooker
- examines pieces of pottery by sight and touch in greenhouse, i.e. , in clay state, after drying, as received from potter's bench, before they go to oven for firing, and sends back to slip house, to be broken up, those which are defective; sometimes done by looker to ware (118) (q.v.).
