- inspects coke to ensure that it has been sufficiently quenched to be safely removed from bench, for loading, etc.
- coker
- a foreman q.v. in charge of coking process from time when coal is charged into ovens until it comes out as coke; decides when process is complete; cf. coker (088).
- foreman, oven foreman
; gaffer, ganger, overlooker
- is in charge, under supervision of manager or chemist, of a battery of coke ovens or certain processes carried on at coke ovens; controls men engaged in such processes as coal handling, screening, crushing, coking, quenching and stacking; directs charging and discharging of ovens and exercises general control.

- overlooker

- washery foreman
- a ganger or foreman q.v. in charge of washery department; sees to the oiling and greasing of the various parts and is responsible for the supply of coal and water through the washery.
