patent turner ; collar turner, turner (collars, etc.)

inserts piece of material and template on gas-heated bed of patent collar and cuff turning machine, which may be either power driven or foot-driven; applies pressure by means of lever, so that edge of material projecting over template is turned upwards and inwards ready for seaming; work generally similar to that of hand turner q.v.; sometimes specifically designated, e.g. collar patent turner, cuff patent turner.
